Apps not downloading

I have 2 friends (non-techs) who have iPhones here in Canada. Both of them have problems downloading Apps. The app will download but will not work. These are common apps that I know work. Both have iTunes accounts.

However, on my iPhone, there are no problems.

Any ideas?
