A friend presented me with this problem:
On starting up her Macbook Air (Yosemite) the Microsoft Office suite opens itself. It is not a Login item. Does anyone know how to prevent this? It seems to be a similar problem that some people have with Mail opening uninvited.
 
It could also be set through the Dock icon to start at login. Right-click the dock icon, go to Options then make sure "Open at Login" is not checked.
