apps storage space

I recently noticed itunes is reporting that storage for all the apps on my ipad2 amounts to 8.1GB. This seems a bit excessive given (1) I don't really have a lot of applications (2) when i add up the listed size of each application, it totals only about 500MB.

Any thoughts?

If it matters, I have a 32GB ipad2 (verizon). It is running IOS 4.3.3 and it is jailbroken.

I noticed the same thing too on my jailbroken ipad2 (4.3.3). Are you deleting the downloaded file in Installous? That helped a bit for me.
