Apps Suggestions

These are the apps i use. Please suggest if there is anything better to use:

1. utorrent (sometimes freezes in quitting)
2. Vlc for avi's/mp3's
3. AirVideo for video stream in my iphone
4. LogmeIn for desktop remote control (iteleport better?)
5. iStatmenus
6. cloudapp for img upload (free version)
7. textexpander
8. tagalicious (it only searches songs from itunes library)
9. Do you suggest an alternative mp3 player to Vlc?
10. Unarchiver for rar or sth else?

11. NTFS for Mac,flash player and Flip4Mac.

Thanks for mentioning perian. But i uninstalled it. Whats the use of it when i dont use quicktime player for avi's?

Try Transmission.

I use TeamViewer, which works with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Ubuntu, iPhone, iPad, etc. It's very secure and quite simple to set up and use (no messing around with ports), which comes in handy if providing remote support to those who aren't very computer literate. You can talk them through the setup on their end and be connected to them in less than a minute. It's also free for personal use. I prefer it over LogMeIn because it includes free file transfers between computers, a feature I use frequently.

I have both, but I find iStat Pro very convenient.

I've heard good things about it. I'm currently testing Typinator.

9. Do you suggest an alternative mp3 player to Vlc?

iTunes is essential to me for managing my library and playing AirTunes.

10. Unarchiver for rar or sth else?

Try several and choose what works best for you: StuffIt Expander or UnRarX or The Unarchiver or iZip

• Install ClickToFlash (Safari), Flashblock (Firefox) or FlashBlock (Chrome) to control which Flash content plays on websites.

I use iTunes for music, Plex for movies and TV shows.

I would also love to use itunes for mp3s but...

It loads every song in the library where i have my iphone synched mp3s (i would prefer to load the songs i want to hear in another folder not in the synched ones)...and each time i have to delete the songs i heard in order not to be synched with iphone.

Also i tried to use Quicktime with perian in order to view movies/tv shows etc but i couldnt find hotkeys for example to set a 5sec time jump forward/backward like in VLC... i ll check Plex!

You don't have to sync your whole iTunes library with your iPhone. You can select which songs you want to sync.

Sorry but i dont find it so easy to use

Ok i enabled manually synch but...

When i choose to open a song with itunes it loads it in the Music library:

1. I want the song to load in an empty folder/space not in the music library where my synched songs are... also its kinda messy to choose repeat/shuffle to specific songs when in the same era are my synched songs and the ones i choose to hear.

2. Each time i load the song, i have to uncheck it in order not to be synched when i ll choose synch with iphone.

For example with VLC i choose to hear some songs and when i quit the app the list gets empty. So simple... i dont want libraries or to create playlists... just to hear some various songs from my mp3's folder.... can i do this with itunes?

Yes, when you play a music file with iTunes, it automatically adds it to your iTunes library. If you use selective synching, such as only certain playlists, the new song won't automatically be added to such playlists. It won't matter if the song is checked or not if it's not in the playlist(s) to be synched.

Of course, you can use whatever apps you prefer. I'm just saying there is a way to use iTunes that won't require synching newly-added songs automatically.

It automatically sizes the window to accommodate the contents. You can't change that, other than changing the number of items to be displayed.

Preview splits gifs in multiple photos....
