iPod touch Apps turning off when I push the sleep/lock button or when it comes on

I use some ambient apps such as ibrainfreak, asleep and so on for while I sleep and when the sleep/lock button gets activated the music and everything stops? This has not been a issue since upgrading to OS 2.2 why is that?
