Apps unexpectedly quit and the grey screen of death

I just got a b&w g3 with these specs:
G3/350, rev. 1, 6gb hard disk, 256 mb crucial pc133 sdram and OSX 10.3.4...all apps from Safari, Stickies, Word 2004, you name it, they either unexpectedly quit or the system locks up. What could be causing this?

Two Quick Thoughts

Try swapping out the RAM.

Check and make sure your date/time is correct; some apps will not run/crash if the date is off.
