Hi,

So I'm running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1 on my 2009 13'' Macbook Pro. Some times, some apps like Skype, Word or PowerPoint (all apps that aren't from the AppStore) won't launch. The icon jump in the dock on there is a little blue dot under it but it won't launch.

Now, for it to launch, I have to uninstall it (and delete the preference file) and re-install it again! It's a workaround but it is extremely unpractical.

If any of you have the same problem or know a fix, I'm all ears!

Check the console when you have the problem. It should contain any errors.

I don't understand why people just uninstall and reinstall their software and then get surprised when the problem comes back. Apps don't randomly change themselves. Putting the same bits on your disk that you just took off won't change anything, The problem is likely in the preferences or another system issue.

What should I be looking for? Here is what happens when I launch the app IconBox.
