Apps Won't Update

I have an iPhone 5S. For the past few days when I go into the App Store app and try to download the available updates it takes several minutes for the circles to stop circling and then everything stops. No downloads. I've shut my phone off and tried deleting the apps and re-installing, but they won't re-install. Any ideas? Thanks!

Make sure the apps you want to update have already been used after their last update. In other words check that the apps you're updating don't have the blue dot under.

Update apps in iTunes, connect iPhone and sync. See if that works.
