Hi All, I love AquaFox... it and Sorbet have completely reinvigorated my Power Mac G5 DP. I have one SMALL issue with AquaFox however, and I am wondering if I am the only one encountering it.

I typically use Google as my search engine, and so I have set the search default for AquaFox to Google. However, no matter how times I do that, when I restart AquaFox on my Sorbet-based Power Mac G5, it always defaults back to Yahoo search.

Am I missing something obvious? I have set it to Google in both the settings directly and via the search box at the top left of the main window, but it always comes back to Yahoo.

This is a minor irritation only, but I would like to overcome it if I can.

Is anyone else experiencing this, and is there a known way to resolve it? Thanks!

This has reportedly been an issue for all TenFourFox-based browsers. I believe it has something to do with the search defaults; Mozilla probably had a deal with Yahoo at some point in the past. I've tried changing the default search engine before, but to no avail. Nonetheless, I will probably try my hand at it again.

It is also very difficult for me to debug because I have never experienced this issue myself; for me, the setting is persistent.

Thanks @thewireless. If you do find/fix anything, let us know!

Anything else on the short term pipeline for Aquafox? I am always looking forward to anything that might even further enhance the performance of this already excellent product!

I have a security update coming up that includes things such as certificates from 128 ESR. However, before pushing the update, I want to optimize further by tweaking the prefs and exploring options for disabling or removing deprecated and unnecessary features to make the browser less bloated.

Excellent! Current certificates keep Aquafox relevant, that is for sure, and ANY other optimizations will be embraced by all with open arms. Thanks for all that you are doing!

Quick test results, @thewireless: Search engine came up as, and stayed as, Google. More testing to come, but those are the initial results. Looks great, thanks!

Are there any other "goodies" in this build to test for?

Thanks!
Thank you for your feedback; it really helps! The only change in this build is the search engine setting. Aside from that, it's identical to version 1.0.0.

SOMETHING has changed, and for the better... the executable is smaller than the executable for the 1.0 release (174 MB vs. 150 MB) which may improve app load time by a minuscule amount!

The reduction in file size is because I built it for G3, ensuring compatibility. The G3 build lacks AltiVec, so in theory, it should perform worse than a G5 build on a G5.

Thanks @thewireless, that explains it.

Aquafox doesn't FEEL any slower, even being built for G3 vs. G5 AltiVec, but there has to be a difference. I am probably simply not stressing it with anything that needs AltiVec.

I have made this build my default Aquafox, so I am now using it daily - in fact this response is being entered via the G3 build - and will report back any other issues I see.

Thanks Again.
