Just thought I'd share this information.
I recently had to do an archive and install (due to my own mistake), it was good to recover from it and I have noticed that it has had a huge effect on page outs.
I'm running an eMac 1.42 there's about 15 gig of HD space left. It was always regularly maintained and ran very smoothly. It's got 1.5 gig of ram that has been mem tested to be fine.
Right from the beginning it had (to my mind) very high page outs considering the ram. Usually page outs would stay at zero until about 80,000 page ins then it would rise dramatically.
After a few days of running it would be normal to have 200,000 page outs and the same page ins.
However after the achive and install I've reached 200,000 page ins without a single page out. And even after a restart this trend of not filling up with page outs has continued.
I don't know what all this means but I thought it was interesting. The eMac started it's life by transfering all my data from my old eMac in target mode.
