When you right click a bunch of files and Archive them, it's supposed to compress them right? Or is it just a straight lump together?

It creates a zip file. I would have thought that they would get compressed. Note that some files compress better than others. Plain text will compress well. Packed binary data will compress badly.

Yeah, maybe it's the media I'm working with. Thinking about it, it was some .avi files I was compressing - maybe they were heavily compressed to begin with?

Thats probable it. I once tried to back up my iTunes library, it went from 5.7gb to 5.5gb. Some things just can't be squeezed any smaller.
