I recently cleaned up my computer and installed fresh without time machine and copied apps + files manually (It was long overdue and I was running out of space).

So now I have transferred everything I want; but I want to put the old time machine backup on another hard drive just in case I forgot something when I reset up my time capsule for restored computer.

Is it as simple as copying the image in the data folder mounted from time capsule?

Thanks!

Or, if you have a new-ish Time Capsule, you can plug in a USB drive and have the Time Capsule back itself up. See the Archive Disk function in Airport Utility/Disks (I have never used it, I just know it is there).

A.

addendum: Now that I said I never used it, I had to try it. Seems to be very straightforward: does not format the archive disk, just needs sufficient space. It is USB2, seems to be running about 50GB/hour.
