My wife and I decided to pull the trigger and get iPhones. If Apple's website says our nearby Apple Store (Arden Fair Mall, Sacramento) has stock tomorrow, I'm heading there first thing before work. Supposedly the store opens at 8 am (2 hrs early) if they are going to have stock. My question to those who have purchased from the Arden store: how soon should I get there, and how soon will they let people in the mall? I'll get there at 7 if it will make a difference, but I don't want to be standing there all by myself for 45 minutes. The mall normally opens at 10, so I'm assuming they'll have guards at the main entrance to let Apple customers in at 8. Any advice/info from those who have been through this drill is appreciated.

Call the mall at (916) 920-1167 and find out which entrance they will use. I had to line up on day one at the AT&T wireless store since I have the business discount applied to my account.

I don't know if my experience is applicable, but, I got mine yesterday, Saturday, at Arden Fair. I got there at 8:15 and I was not done until 1:45. I imagine that the weekday should have a shorter line. I think the mall entrances open early. We used the lower rear entrance by Sears.

i was at the Arden one at launch and got there 6:30am to get mine. although i wish i had gone to the AT&T store that's right outside (near the UA movie theater). friend got there at 8am and was done by 10am.

i've passed by the arden apple store about 3 times last week and the line was to the Raider store around 10am. i suspect if you get there 8am, you will be early enough. if it was me personally, i'd prob aim for sometime between 7-8am.

I'm going to try the Apple store tomorrow morning and was wondering if anyone had recent updates or tips. Thanks!

Emeryville (Bay Street) Apple Store, California, on Monday, August 4, '08, had about 12 people in line as I walked up at 8:20 a.m.; I stood in line for 10 minutes after getting my ticket for a 16GB White; walked in to the store and 5 minutes later I was sitting in my car driving home to retrieve my contacts, music, video, etc... I know it's not the Arden, Sacramento Store, but this is how it works on a good day.
