Are all Ethernet switches created equal ?

Im getting my refurb airport extreme this week but i need an ethernet switch
I have a cable going from the computer room to the living room & want to connect a few devices to Ethernet

Im looking at these 2

I've had terrific luck with Trendnet unmanaged switches. Had one in the office and one out behind the TV for a couple years. Worked perfectly. Try to find one that has the energy efficient option that toggles transmitter power based on cord length.
