I'm sure this will turn out to be a stupid question, but here goes. When I import a CD into itunes, is then duplicated on the hard drive in the music folder? If so, can I just delete the duplicates and save that hard drive space? I fell really dumb asking this, but I haven't been able to find the answer anywhere.

There are no duplicates. It's copied onto your hard drive once. If you delete those files it won't be available in iTunes.

when you say "import" u mean play cd through iTunes? or you actually clicked the button on the bottom of the window called "Import CD"
if only play music, nothing will be copied to your harddrive
if you clicked the Import CD button, iTunes will put music file in your music folder. for once.
