Are all Thunderbolt 4 ports on M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro 16" 2023 the same?

Hi, are all the TB4 ports on M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro 16" 2023 independent and be able to run at max speed? Could anybody please test?

They were on the M1 Pro / Max so i dont think it's different on the M2, but you'll need to wait for a teardown to be certain, or someone to show you a screenshot of system report

They all are TB4 and support up to 40Gb/s. I have not tested all of them at the same time for max speed, though.

They are. And if there were any undocumented “weaker” ports then people should have noticed last gen.

I know where you are coming from, the 2016 13” had slower ports on one side, and the later 13”/15” 4-port models some of them had power issues creating excessive CPU usages on the right side I believe. So far nobody has found anything wrong like these in both 2021 and 2023 models.

You mean the fact that 2x2 being unsupported? Well at least this is within what's described in the spec sheet.

That and the 10gbps variants (3.2gen2, 3.1gen2) are a tad slower than on intel, and they're more picky about enclosure controller + ssd controller chip combinations.
they're mostly nerfed at 600-700mb/s (should be in 900-1000mb/s).
That's closer to SATA 6GBPS than USB3.2 10gbps

Someone just posted in another thread that the M2 Pro/Max MBP’s (2023) have full USB 3.2 gen2 20Gbps speeds, they noticed when testing some external SSD drives.

If this holds true, it’s a speed doubling from the 2021 models in terms of USB (10 Gbps to 20 Gbps).
