I am looking at getting my sister a screen protector for her Ipad to come, so here is my question is the anti glare "function" worth the extra 50c? And is it helpful or a hindrance?

It's worth every penny. I use to have clear screen protector and like how the color pops but after using a while, the glare is unbearable. So I try out the anti glare and it's perfect. Easy to clean all the smudges, no glare etc. The only downside is the color doesn't look as good as clear but nothing major.

a lot of them are crap..... the two best are steilheil or powersupport - google them...

The mosh Ivisor also has really good reviews, it's also the one I use. I have used both power support and steilheil (granted on the iphone not iPad) but the moshi is still my favourite by quite a long way. Don't get me wrong tho the other two makes are good, power support especially, I just prefer the moshi.

Depends on who you ask as with any question of worth on any topic. I totally found SGP's ultra fine (anti fingerprint and anti glare) screen protector to be worth it but YMMV. As stated above, not all screen protectors are the same. Refer to the countless existing screen protector threads.

Keep in mind that most of these will slightly affect image quality. Again, whether or not that matters to you is a subjective matter. I found the SGP UF to be acceptable. YMMV.

I just installed an anti-glare protector on mine. If I'm absolutely honest a little bit of me wishes I got a glossy one instead, it definately reduces the clarity of the screen. It took me 4 attempts to install one succesfully though (without trapped dust and bubbles) so it's staying on for a long time now.

I know alot of people say "you don't need it" or "my device is x years old and has no scratches". However, I tend to find these people have a slightly different definition of a scratch, which is basically "if i cant feel it with my finger, it doesn't exist". Problem with that is iPads sold on ebay as "like new, no scratches!" usually have very minor but very real scratches. I know the glass used on the iPad is pretty tough, but the coating over the top of it seems to be a bit more delicate.

My iPad has a few scratches, the worst one is a small 5mm long scratch on one of the black borders. I've actually grown to like it there because it's served as a reminder to treat the device with care, like take your watch off first! The other scratches are very small, very light, only visible under light, but they are there.

It's personal preference. Some people really like the way the colors pop with glossy screen.

Others dislike the reflections you get on the screen and find them distracting.

You need to ask her, let her see the difference, maybe with letting her first hand compare a glossy LCD and a matte one.

If in doubt, don't do AG, stay with a clear screen. In my experience most consumers prefer the glossy. I'd highly recommend the Powersupport Crystal or retaining the Apple iPad OEM look and feel.

(this is coming from someone who likes anti-glare and uses Powersupport's AG)
