Why is the chip stupid?

I can't imagine accessory makers are going to have a hard time implementing the new connector into docks.

Cause it seems 3 party manufacturers have to get these chips from Apple in order for their charging accessories to work. At a fee of course. Which means they have to charge more for the accessories.

I know people love to assume everything Apple does is just to screw people, but that chip dynamically reassigns the pins so it can be reversible.

Why couldn't it just be a plug pass through like the old dock that came with the first iPhone? Then it doesn't need a chip as it will be in the cord still... The iPad dock was the same way.

MFi Partners can get the connector with the chip. The chip just blocks unlicensed (ie cheap) accessories

None of this is true, but even if it were, so what? Are you going to get mad if Apple came up with a way to make more money?

My God... the capitalistic lunacy of it all!
