Are any work-at-home jobs not a scam?

Hi, I'm a teacher with a couple months "off" coming up here, and I'm looking for a possible work at home type job. I'm very comfortable with computers, I type about 70-80WPM. I'm thinking maybe data entry might be up my alley? I can continue on the nights and weekends once school starts up again.

Everything I look at, says for more information to send them $85. Is there a company that legitimately hires people like me?

For typing, I have no idea. Live closed captioning is pretty interesting... if you can learn shorthand!

My wife transcribes for Rev. Definitely not a scam. She makes around $13/hour average. She also has about 10 years of medical transcription experience, so that is helping her a bit more than most people.
