Are Applecare codes valid/usable worldwide?

I am possibly buying a mac laptop in next month. I live in Finland, EU, and I was wondering if I can buy Applecare from american eBay for example. The Applestore price for the Applecare in EU area is whopping 440euro (that's over 600usd), which makes it totally ridicilous.

So, is Applecare code which has been bought from the states valid in EU area or do I need to fetch one from inside EU?

I have the same issue, I'll be going to US next week and I want to buy a macbook there, so just wanted to be sure that warranty works in *EU

AppleCare (the policy purchased separately from the Mac) is worldwide.

Whether or not the 1-year warranty included with the purchase of a Mac is worldwide, ... I've never seen a clear answer on that.
