I've read several reviews of the Macbook Pro 16-inch and they all agree the internal speakers are exceptionally strong. Maybe the best speakers in any laptop right now. While that's encouraging, I'm wondering if anyone knows how the internal speakers compare to external speakers like the Bose Companion 2 Series III?

I'm a heavy Spotify user, and having the music I listen to actually sound good is important. If I could get a really nice laptop that wouldn't require spending additional money on solid external speakers, it would be a point in favor of the Macbook Pro 16-inch.

Thanks for any input!

Laptop speakers are never going to beat a decent pair of external desktop speakers. They aren't going to output much bass. It's just not physically possible in such a small space.

That being said, you won't know how good the MBP's internal speakers sound until you try them for yourself. Maybe they are good enough for you.

They great for laptop speakers, but still aren't good speakers in a broader sense. They're still laptop speakers.

The speakers are amazing but you're not going to get defined mids, or powerful lows. In my opinion, the best kind of setup is a pair of 5 to 7" monitors, with an 8" floor facing woofer. Make sure all boxes are front facing.
