Are faulty MacBook Pro's replaced with refurbs?

Hi all,

From my experience (here in Europe anyway...), faulty iPhones, iPods and iPads are all replaced with refurbished items.

Recently my iPad's home button became unresponsive and Apple replaced my iPad with a refurbished iPad free of charge. I was very happy with this service (some may not).

But my question is, does this system apply to MacBooks and iMacs?

If a Mac becomes faulty (screen fails, trackpad faulty etc etc) does Apple repair this? Or do they have the same system, and ship a refurbished item to the customer?

They'll just repair it in most cases. If the computer has been in for service multiple times or possibly if the cost of the repair is too high, they may replace it at that point.
