I've been a fan of and a user of skins on my iPhones and other electronics for 4-5 years. Gives the iPhone a better grip and less sliding when typing on the screen.

But I recently bought a iPhone 5s on Craigslist that had a tempered glass screen protector on it. The look and clarity are gorgeous compared to the skins! A bit more slick of course (this one was the Verizon $25 glass screen protector) but I'm liking the look.

I have always thought that the skins protect my phone from light dings and even when I've dropped a phone, I feel like the skin helps with some shock as a laminate to the screen glass to prevent a shatter. Tempered glass, when hit right, will shatter.

SO my question is...which is better for protection of the iPhone screen? A skin (like Zagg or Best Skins Ever) or a tempered glass protector? Or does it matter? Thanks!
