On the verge of buying a new laptop, noticed that the Dell Inspiron line have upgraded to the T2500 Duel Core processors, what about the MacBooks?

Not yet for Merom...nobody knows when they'll be available. The T2500 is Yonah, which is what is currently used in the MacBook.

Hmm, that's quite bad. I thought apple were intending to be competative?

Thanks.

Isn't a T2500 what the MBP already uses? Core Duo 2 GHz? Or am I mistaken?

Edit: Someone already clarified this. Thanks, WildCowboy

How is it bad, it's what the other companies are using (the Dell is using the same one as the Macbook, and if Dell just "upgraded" their line right now, I'd say they were the ones who were behind). No company is shipping with Merom (Core 2 Duo) as far as I know. Some have it listed on their site, but it's not shipping yet.

The other company said to be receiving the first shipment of these chips (Leveno) still has yet to say anything about Core 2 yet, so I'd just keep waiting. Who will ultimately be the first to release? Apple or Leveno? Time will tell.

See, I would hate that, I just spent on my hard earned cash on this Macbook, and they just roll out a new one with a new proc...that makes me angry. Then again, that is apple, rolling out a new version of a product every three months, and telling you the one you have is obsolete. The only product I think they haven't done that with yet is the iPod Video...

...all computer companies have always done that.
