I have a late 2008 aluminum Macbook that I've had for just over a year (bought Applecare so im still covered) thats speakers suddenly decided to stop working. The only thing I hear is when I turn on the Macbook and the typical Mac hum is played (much more faintly than usual, i might add). For everything else, i hear nothing.

The volume is on and the speakers are detected. I tried using headphones and still i could hear nothing. I've updated, restarted, and done everything else i can imagine to try and fix the problem.

So before I take it to the Apple Store, i am just wondering if any of you have had similar problems and know how to fix it.

Thanks
