4.01.

went to jailbreakme. finished, installed Cydia.

I can't find anything about saving the SHSH files. No "make my life easier" to be found. I do see at the top, in green: SHSH: iOS 4.0.1, 4.0.2. This seems to suggest the blobs are on file. Is this now automatic? I just want to be sure and searches show dated information.

Yes. That means your blobs are on file with Sauriks server.

Edit: also, do a search for a program called tinyumbrella. You'll want that. It's used to store your blobs and restore if needed. It's the "make my life easier" your looking for.

thanks. I have that already. I just wanted to also store them in Cydia for redundancy.

I have a similar question. The day 4.1 was released I hooded my phone up and used tinyumbrella to grab 4.1 shsh even though I have no intent on updating to it. How long until it will show up when I open cydia from phone? Right now it still shows 4.0, 4.0.1 and 4.0.2, still no 4.1 though.

Did you grab them through Cydia, or did you redirect TU to Apple's servers? I used TU that day to do the same thing, and directing through Cydia took quite some time. Got the TU confirmation eventually, and 4.1 shsh showed as confirmed on the Cydia homepage on the phone later that same day.

I'd run TU again (make sure it's the current version) just to be sure.

since 4.1 is the current fw, Apple will sign it until the next release is public, you just have to wait, everyone is on the queue for a request, 4.1 will show up soon enough

I downloaded tinyumbrella on my mac and plugged the iphone in and think I saved my shsh but I have no idea where to find them or how I can use them if needed?

Grabbed them through Cydia, Ill just do it again just to be 100% sure.

Here's where the SHSH file reside on PC

I've been searching and now found the various SHSH files that are stored locally on PC by TinyUmbrella into cydia:

C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user_name>\.shsh

File names are: <ECID>-iphone3g-<version_of_firmware>.shsh

(filename like: 1234567890123-iphone3g-4.1.shsh )

Lots of info for your device in the directory: .known_devices
under somebiglongfilename.plist which is partially an ASCII
text file with all the headers/keywords included along with
the values.
