are sms and notes included in itunes iphone backup?

hello all!

i have been trying to find out info on what is backed up from your iphone when you back it up with itunes?

i am mostly concerned about losing my sms messages and my notes.

the reason i need to know is that i want to update my jailbroken 1.1.4 2g iphone to the new jailbroken 2.1 firmware.

any info would be excellent.

Yes, they are. They'll be there when you restore with your backup.
