Hey, I'm wondering if SSDs are compatible with the Mac Pro3,1 (08)?

And are all SSDs the same, or are some faster? and where should I get them, I'm googling atm.

Kind Regards

most SSDs are compatible with Mac Pros. the Intel x25 series seems to be very popular at the moment.

there are two basic types of SSD, SLC and MLC. MLC is generally slower and less reliable then SLC, but cots less.

Just looked up the Intel x25, says it's MLC – does it have a SLC version as well?

So are intel the best? I see two MLC one by Intel one by Crucial, Crucial's write speed is 200MB/s intels is 70MB/s both read at 250MB/s.

Intel SSD
Crucial SSD

And is the read latency on the intel one good?

Kind Regards

I'm wondering what's the difference between this Intel SSD and this Cruical SSD, both are $600-650, Cruical's is 256GB, Intel's is only 160GB!

Kind Regards

there will be a big difference in read/writes speeds and max number of writes to the drive, try search for that.

im not sure which brand of SSD are, ive never researched that part.

most SSD drives support SATA 1.5 or 3.0

My guess is that your 08 mac pro definitely has one or the other.
