are still photos in iMovie always so blurry?

Still photos imported from iPhone 4 into iMovie on iPad 2, are much less crisp than the original shot. Slideshows created in iMovie using iPhone 4 captured photos come out very soft and not as "hd" as the original, hope I'm making sense. Is this normal and to be expected? I used the camera connection kit to get the pictures off the iphone and onto the ipad.

Anyone else have this same issue? Thanks for any help!
