I own a MacBook 12inch and just want to know if i can remove the keys of the keyboard to clean them. I accidentally spilled some icecream over the arrow-keys and would like to clean them up. They do work but they are a bit 'sticky'.

I am hesitant to remove them with a screwdriver or something similar, i am afraid i might damage the butterfly mechanism. I searched the internet and this forum but i can not find any answers if they can be easily removed and reattached.

thanks
Martin

Well, you've voided the warranty by spilling ice cream, but it won't hurt to ask the genius if they can clean it. If you remove the keys and break them you have to pay for repair.

They are actually easier to remove than the older design. All you do is use either your nail or a bank card. Put it under the top left of the key and lift up slowly. Simple. To replace lay it in place (flat) and push down in the middle till it clicks
