I have the LG screen in a 2011 mba. Also got to the Toshiba 256 gb ssd, thereby accomplishing the negative trifecta of the poorer screen, slower hd, and higher price.
When I look at certain colors, green, I can see like the oscillating dots in the colors or something not quite waves, but little vibrations of dots if that makes sense.
I see it easier on green patterns, and it appears more obvious when I'm looking at some photos. It's made more obvious by scrolling.
I did not go about looking for this at all. I just am describing what I am seeing and noticed this on day 2. This phenomenon is present on my other mba, but it's not nearly as apparent and would not bother me. That one has I think a Samsung screen. By the way, the Samsung screen is better in my opinion. Higher contrast, but as everyone said, the whites are not as pure. The peak brightness is also higher on the Samsung by a bit. I personally am not going to exchange based on the screen.
Is this an inverter problem or what is going on here?
I have seen this issue in a Sony Z a few years ago; it was readily apparently in one of their premium models. Simply moving your eyes back and forth across the screen would show it.
Mountain out of a molehill? Am I within spec?
