Hi
It is my believe that the rumors and of sightings around the web about a 7" iPad is really an 7" iPod Touch especially built for gaming. Like the New Sony Vita, This is the reason Apple has been hiring top gaming talent and fits with their logic concerning not producing a 7" iPad. Who thinks this is a possibility and if not why not?

  1. How is a 7" iPad any different than a 7" iPod Touch?
  2. How do you make a 7" device "especially built" for gaming? The Touch is pretty much all about gaming already. Do you think Apple is going to add a D-pad and buttons and fragment their device lineup?

I don't think you've thought this through.

Apple is doing a poor job at marketing the iPod Touch as a gaming device with the battery life it has. I mean if I play any game that takes a little bit of power to run (like Zombie Highway) the device is lucky to last two hours.

This sounds like a glitch to me. My iPhone easily lasts 6 hours of gaming.

There is actually a slight possibility because it wasn't getting used much at all the first 4 months I had it, perhaps this had a negative effect on the battery.

However, I do have a buddy that says his battery runs out around 2 -3 hour mark when he plays his drag racing game.

I'd say definitely not. It'd need a 1920x1280 resolution for 330 PPI, and whilst that resolution would be possible, it would be the only device which runs iPhone apps that requires such high resolution graphics, so it would fragment the App Store a little.

It's more likely that we see a 4.4 inch iPod touch at 960x640 which would work out roughly at 262 PPI much like the iPad 3's 264 PPI.
