Are the speakers on the Penryn MBPs louder?

To me it is, when turned on the loudest, it is so much more louder than the Merom MBP.

On the Merom, using the "put volume to minimum, then click unmute" trick, the volume is really soft, but using the same trick on the Penryn, it sounded like the 1 square of the Merom already.

Pls confirm

My girlfriend and I were playing around with that yesterday. My Penryn MBP is as loud as her Merom gets with about 3 'clicks' left, so I can turn it up to be substantially louder than hers.
