Not really a mac or pc gamer, BUT Spore intrigues me - i'm going to be buying a new macbook pro soon - has anyone seen the requirements for this game? are they out yet? I just want to be able to play Spore on the airplane when i'm traveling back and forth across the country for work :)

An estimate for the requirements are:
PC or Mac with: Intel Pentium4 2GHz
512MB RAM
Geforce4 or better
(with pixel shader) ATI X300 or better
The preferred CPU specifications (relating to number of cores, or 32/64 bit) is not yet known. It is speculated that the requirements will similar to the requirements of The Sims 2.
The Windows/Mac version requirements are not yet known.

Would it work on a macbook? (check sig for specs)

If it runs on an iPhone....

I'm guessing that the version of Spore running on the iPhone more closely resembles the new DS version they demoed recently than the full PC version.
As for the PC version, if it's anything like Sims2, the graphics aren't nearly as intense as the computation. It's one of the few games that taxes the CPU as much as the GPU.

Spore is basically about designing your own species and "study" them in different parts of evolution, right? From what I have read I don't really see any "thrill" or goal in the game.

You're one of those people that never saw the appeal of Sim City either, aren't you. :p
