I have the official Apple USB C to USB/HDMI adapter (https://www.apple.com/shop/product/...=aos-us-kwgo-pla-btb--slid--product-MJ1K2AM/A). I'd like to hide the adapter out of site and have one cable coming up through the cable hole in my desk plugged into my MacBook and then all the cables, USB hub, etc. all managed under the desk. The little pigtail on the adapter makes that impossible so I have cables all over my desk. I bought a fairly expensive highly rated Female to Male USB C extension cable but what's weird is when I plug it into the back port of my MacBook Pro, the connection flickers (like the laptop flashes quickly between charging and not charging, charging, not charging, and the connection to my monitor is unstable as well. If I take the exact same setup and move the extension cable to the front port it works fine.
