Are there 4k displays that won’t have compatibility issues in a few years?

i have an mbp15 late 2013. If I understand correctly, to get 60 fps in 4k, I need a screen with display port 1.2. However, I wonder what will happen in a few years when newer interface versions become mainstream... Will i be able to find an adapter to continue using the display with new computer hardware, e.g., a PC desktop?

Most devices should be backwards compatible (ie using a dp 1.2 screen with a dp 1.4 gpu/computer)

I just realized that, unfortunately, I have to wait to replace my mbp late 2013 first. Turns 60 fps is supported only with MST on, which I hear is quite buggy.
