From reading some articles, it was recommended that I reset my PMU to possibly fix some battery problems. Are there any dangers to this?

The only danger is that on some Macs the PMU can crash if you hit the button twice, and that can drain your battery or leave you with trouble similar to the problem you are trying to fix. The cure is to try a startup, and if it fails, reset (once this time) again.

I have a PowerBook just barely over a year old and the battery recently went from holding a good 2.5-3 hour charge to only 30 minutes (if I'm lucky.) Sometimes it will even turn off on me out of nowhere. Could resetting the PMU help out at all?
