I need a new mouse for maya as the cheap heavy wireless logitech im using is giving me serious wrist pain and trouble. Maya is heavily reliant on the third mouse button and i wondered if there are any out there? Initial seraching has brought back nothing.

Failing this can anyone recommend a really comfortable (CORDED - i hate wireless) mouse suitable for use up to 10 hours a day.

By "third button" - do you count a clickable scroll wheel?

If so, any generic two-button wired-USB mouse with a clickable scroll wheel will do. I use such things for 10+ hours a day on two Macs.

I use USB Overdrive to configure the clicks you want. Works well.

no by a third button i mean a real middle button not a wheel:

I'm not sure quite why they've gone out of fashion.

because they were supplanted by far superior mice with more than 3 buttons in a horrible configuration which leaves no room for the way more useful scroll wheel? And most scroll wheels ARE buttons you can press.

Remember when some apps REQUIRED this 3rd button!?

Sun Crossbow Mouse (it's a roller, not optical)

Well, at the risk of repeating myself, USB Overdrive will allow you to configure the scroll wheel click (i.e. depressing the scroll wheel) as the "third" (or "middle") button...

yeh nearly all 3d apps need the middle button. Maya certainly does. They could do with a 4th 5th and 6th as well tbh :D
