Are there some UNbootable HD's?

I have been doing some searches and reading up on backup drives, and have a quick question.

It seems that usb drives are not bootable, is that correct?
Is there a firewire bus powered drive?
Would it be bootable?

Why are you looking for a drive that is specifically not bootable? Any IDE/SATA drive won't boot if it doesn't have software on it - it can be used just for backups.

For what its worth...

I have a bootable, bus-powered, 2.5" external firewire drive that I use for back-ups. I even drag it around with me so I can restore on the go. Its sort of like taking an umbrella with you everywhere you go. If you have it, it won't rain. If you don't have it...

what brand? how long have you had it? Are you happy with it?
