It seems like most laptop manufacturers are moving to 16:9 screens now. It is becoming very difficult to find 16:10 screens anymore. Do you think these latest MBPs will be the last Apple laptops to have 16:10 screens? Or could Apple still use 16:10 screens in the next revision?

Well the 27" iMacs are the only Apple products that have the 16:9 aspect ratio, so either Apple is reserving 16:9 to larger screen(ie. a refreshed, larger than 24" ACD), or that was the beginning of a full transition. I personally hope it's the former.

There are some business grade PC laptops with 16:10 screens too (mostly 1280x800 and some 1440x900).

16:9 is for toys, not serious tools. ;)

ahh, this brings me back to the old days of the "waiting for arrandale" thread, when the topic of 16:9 vs 16:10 was brought up several times daily...

i still don't get why people want 16:9 on the MBP just because other manufacturers have done this to advertise ideal conditions for movie watching. i'm not reading any webpages sideways these days, and if you ask anyone using computers for anything but movie watching, vertical screen real estate is too important.

I'm one of the people who doesn't like 16:9, but I realize it is inevitable. If the LCD makers stop making 16:10, then Apple will have no choice but to use 16:9.

I'm just wondering if I should buy the latest MBP if it's going to be the last 16:10, or if I should wait for the next faster revision if it will still be 16:10.

16:9 is for "pro" movie watchers... don't want to annoy them with wasted pixels the rest of us need for work do you?

I've always thought 16:10 was too short (or too wide, depending on how you look at it) and preferred the 4:3 displays right up until nobody sold them anymore. 16:9 is even worse, and I hope that it doesn't become the new trend. What's next? 2:1? 3:1?
