Just wondering if they are checking iPhone upgrade eligibility through AT&T at Apple Stores if you RESERVED them, or if they are just letting you buy them for the $299.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

They are checking.

Not sure if this helps but Apple has the upgrade info because you had to give it to them at the time of reserving. I stood in line this morning for almost 5 hours this morning and got my phone (never thought it would take that long) and someone in front of me was booted from the line at the door because they checked all reservations before letting us in. I'm writing this from my new Touch (old 3G). I told Apple I would activate the new phone at home. Anyway, they're very organized and doing it all by the book.
