Are they taking pre-orders at the stores?

I need to visit a Genius to get an issue with my 4s resolved and I really don't want to be caught in crazy lines etc.

yes, but it would not be for the 21st. On launch day they only do "ship to house" pre-orders b.c it would make the stores twice as busy. If you went to a store today and did a pre-order it would be for the date people are seeing online...ships in 2 weeks. In store, they just use the online website.
