I don't know how outdated my information is, but I remember horror stories from using unofficial non-MFI cables. I don't know if that's still the case as the newer models have come out or what. I think I remember it being about power surges damaging a chip or something inside the phone. Would like more recent info if possible.

Basically, I bought a waterproof case that doesn't fit my current Anker cable. For some reason the charge hole doesn't accurately line up preventing cables from going in except Apple official ones and an older version of an Amazon Basics one. There's a little dock extender my sister introduced me to, but she hasn't been using it long which makes me dubious. This is a picture of the dock extender.

My questions are mainly:
  • Is it safe to use without damaging my phone?
  • What concerns are there about how could it damage my phone?
  • Is there a way to test it's safety?
  • Is there a tried and true dock extender out there?
I really like the case, but if I risk damaging my phone then I'm happy to forget said case. Advice please, wise forums ones.
