Are used 2010 MBP's (15") worth buying?

Your input is greatly needed as I don't want to regret buying this machine:

Macbook Pro, 15.4" screen, i5 2.53 GHZ Processor, 4 GB Ram, 500 GB Memory
Asked $700 and I negotiated to $550.

Is this a deal I shouldn't pass up? Or will I regret spending $ that could go into new machine with a little patience and budgeting?

What am I going to use it for?

Skip it.

The Mid-2010 models are getting a bit long in the tooth, and are the last dual-core 15" models. Given that there are 2011 models available in the $500-600 range, and that Apple has now instituted a repair program for the graphics cards, the 2011 models are a much better bet.

If it were $400, maybe. At $550, no way.

$550 is too much for that. You can do better for $600.
