I have been trying and trying to find authoritative wisdom on this....are the voicemails we use on iPhones restored to a new iPhone? Here is what I have found so far, some of which conflicts:
1. There are three ways to backup and then restore to a new iPhone - iCloud, iTunes, the new iOS 12.4+ Migration.
2. I am planning to use the migration method - the migration restores everything an encrypted iTunes backup will restore, including Helath data, downloaded songs, movies, keychain data, etc., that requires encrypted backups.
3. AT&T (my carrier) in some places on their site said iCloud backups do backup Visual Voicemails. I saw other places say if you want to save voicemails, send them to Voice Memos or other places through the Share Sheet otherwise you may lose the on restore.
4. I have seen other places that say the visual voicemails are controlled by the carrier, so you will get some voicemails restored on the new iPhone, but not all, depending on how far back your voicemails go.
5. I have read changing nano SIM cards will lose voice mails, other places say this will not affect anything.
6. I noticed I have 3 years of visual voicemails on my phone, and I have changed phones in between. So maybe they are backed up?
Can someone carefully explain exactly what to expect with Visual Voicemails when moving to a new phone? If you are able to explain this, you will be the first to do so! 😂😂😂😂 Thanks so much for your help!
