(Noob alert. Proceed with caution.)

I have an SE that I love. I purchased it as a refurb, and it's up to date with iOS 12.x, has tons of memory, etc.

HOWEVER: Voicemail is an issue. People calling in have to wait a ridiculous number of rings to be passed on to VM and, what's worse, the VM indicator doesn't seem to function. I'm forced to call in to see if I have messages.

Do different carriers offer different levels of customization: number of rings, maybe zero-rings if you'er on vacation...that sort of thing.

Or are these problems Apple-specific, in which case it's my phone I've got to worry about.

Thanks. (My carrier, BTW, is RedPocket. Cheap at $10/mo, but that might be all they've got going for them.)

Voice Mail setup and operation is generally carrier controlled. Give your carrier customer service a call and inquire of them how VM is supposed to work. Only then will you be able to determine if your SE is handling VM correctly. My carrier (T-Mobile) for example has an option where calls can go directly to VM and also an option where calls never go to VM. That option is handy to eliminate spam calls.
