Are we doomed now that iOS 7 doesn't allow 3rd party lightning cables?

I purchased 4 lighting cables many months ago for my iPhone 5 and they worked great. Now they are not compatible with iOS 7 and only sync. No charging.

I've read reviews on almost all 3rd party lightning cables that claim to be "Apple certified" but 75%+ reviews say the cable doesn't charge on iOS 7.

I'm going to need some new cables, does anyone have a suggestion or can confirm that a specific brand has worked with iOS 7?
 
I'm still using the cheap $6 cables that I got when the iPhone 5 was introduced.
I bought 8 from two different vendors and 2 of them died but they really did die.
I have to wonder how many stories about Apple blocking cables are simply cheap cables that finally broke.
You know..... the way cheap cables do.

If I was Apple I'd fix it so only Apple accessories work.
Why not? Why should Apple let somebody else make
a buck off their products.

But the big questions is, why buy cheap cables for your
premium Apple product? Why do you fill the need to
save a buck or two for a device that cost retail in excess
of $500us?

Would you put cheap $100 tires(tyres) on your Ferrari?

See, i'm at a crossroads here. I can agree with Apple's reasoning for doing this, especially after all the reports of unofficial chargers setting fires and such, but it's comments like "why buy cheap cables" that i find hilarious.

You can use basically any cheap usb cable for any other smartphone out there, and you'd be paying the same for the "premium product" and nobody would bat an eye.

It's just because it's Apple that people are making a huge deal over this, if Samsung or HTC blocked third party cables, nobody would care
