All iPads Are we sure the pre-orders are tonight?

They said Oct 17th which is technically 12:01am PT tonight. Or 3:01am for me.

But just wanna make sure we have confirmation somewhere that it's TONIGHT....
 
iPhone's and iPad's normally go on sale at 5:01pm AEST here in Australia which is 12:01am PST. But the Apple Australia site says preorders don't start till the 18th, which means either they are doing a staggered preorder start instead of everyone hitting the site an once, which is probably a good idea. Or they could be starting the preorders at a later time than normal.

That's an interesting observation. With the announcement coming so soon before the pre-order date, I'd venture to guess that they might go with a slightly later start for the pre-orders.
