With the new MacBook Pros and the return of Magsafe, are you actually going to use the port or have you already switched to USB-C and will not return?

For me, I was thinking that I might only use it when I am traveling. But even then, I already carry USB-C cables and may want to use those instead. My main scenario is at the home office but I have an external monitor that charges USB-C at 90 watts. So it is more than enough. I am using the port anyway, might as well have it charge.

How about you?

I think I'll put the MagSafe in my backpack for traveling purposes, however, I have USB C chargers in multiple areas in my house, at least 5 spots and therefore will plug in where ever the usb-c is. When Im at home fast charging really isn't an advantage, charging via USB-C is way more important for me than MagSafe.

On the road, yes. At home I'll be plugged into a thunderbolt dock.

Yep. Same here. My default is MagSafe with the only exception being when it's plugged into the Thunderbolt dock. If the dock (100W) isn't enough to sustain max performance I'll install a permanent MagSafe charger on my desk.

Yes, I just want to know if there is a minimum wattage requirement to plug the MagSafe cable into a 3rd party charger. Would be nice to use my Anker 45w Nano II while traveling for overnight charging.

So if I have a 3rd party charger

i bet it works. I charge my 16 in MBP over night using an 18watt charger. 100% at the End of the night.

When I eventually upgrade I will use Magsafe since I charge from the left and it keeps a port free. If I travel with it (infrequent) I will use USB-C.

I don't see why not, charges at the same rate (I ordered the 14" with 96W so I can fast charge either way) and the MagSafe isn't gonna ruin my port or the wall outlet. I might leave MagSafe at home and use USB C in my bag so I can charge my iPad in a pinch if needed, as well
