You should include an "I already have" option. My boyfriend and I both sold ours last week on ebay. I had a 4gb and got 300, he had an 8gb and got 350. We made out decent considering we bought them refurbed (200 and 250, respectively) so now we have money for the new ones...

I left my iphone data plan on though and just switched sim cards, to make sure I'm eligible to upgrade (if the rumors are correct)

keeping it for a spare.

Not a flame but a question. I too want to save my 1 gen iPhone for a backup. But from what I've heard the SIM cards won't be the same. It would be optimal just to be able to exchange the SIM card and go, but as I understand it that's not going to happen. Is this the case or have I been misinformed if anyone knows?

There is only one type of SIM card. Any SIM card should be able to be put in any GSM phone.

I already sold my 8 gig for $300 and bought a blackberry, so that it can keep its value. well to be deeply disappointed, I really miss my iphone, so some guy is going to trade me his 16 gig 1 gen for my blackberry. I also found an 8 gig version for $150, which I will sell and get profit money out of it.

to the OP, how come you didn't give an "I already did" option in the poll?

Thought about it, and was tempted to sell it for a good amount of money, but I needed it on a travel to Europe, so I will keep it, it will have a very good value as a collector's item in 10 years...:D

Until the 3G is capable of accept other carriers SIMs I will keep my 1st gen.

Meh, I haven't yet. And unless something changes with the in-store activation of the 3G iPhone, I prolly won't. Besides, I loooove the design of the first generation. And 4 gigs i enough for me :)
